Meet Josh Termeer, Head Athletic Therapist
Josh and the team of athletic therapists, doctors and a strength and conditioning coach keep the players in game form over the course of the CFL season.
Josh normally arrives at McMahon Stadium around 4:45 a.m. He is the first person in the locker room most days. The first thing the Certified Athletic Therapist does upon arrival is set up breakfast for players and coaches, some of whom start arriving shortly after 5 a.m. With treatment starting at 6 a.m., there is no time to waste. |
Quick Fix:
- Stampeders athletic therapists tape 30-40 players each day before practice, which requires around 48 rolls of tape
- The team wraps around 40 ankles before practice every day. The staff works full tilt to accomplish this in approximately 30 minutes
- Twenty bags of ice are used and prepared each day
- Josh keeps up-to-date reports on every injured player and meets with coaches daily to help determine when a player will return to action
Once players start leaving, the medical team completes treatment notes and sends out the daily injury report to coaches and other staff. Around 5 p.m., just over 12 hours after arriving, Josh is ready to go home for the day. They repeat this for the next four to five days helping the team prepare for weekend games, and then start fresh.
